Her keel was laid at the Lübecker Flender-Werke AG, Lübeck-Siems (Yard / hull No.: 455) in 1954. Launched as JALAZAD on 18.03.1955 and delivered to the Scindia Steam Navigation Company Ltd., Bombay in May 1955. Official No.: 196664. Call Sign: VWDF. Struck IRINI (4'465 GRT / 1911 yob) owned by Santa Irini Compania Maritima Ltda., Puerto Limon on 18.11.1956 at the entrance to Chittagong. IRINI was beached nearby the harbor entrance heavily damaged. She was refloated on 27.11.1956 and towed to port to unload her cargo. The JALAZAD sustained minor damages. 1981 sold to Jal Doot Shipping Pvt., Bombay and renamed JYOTI VINOD. Was abandoned by her crew following her arrival at Tema, Ghana on 23.12.1981. 1983 sold to Afexp Commodities Ltd., Bombay, still abandoned at Tema and scuttled off the port during September 1983. |
