Sailing Portishead 21.08.1965 for Chicago with a cargo which had been loaded at Grangemouth and Antwerp but had to be discharged and reloaded in order to effect repairs

Michael Meredith, who was on board, reported: "We had arrived in Avonmouth at the end of July and lay alongside the Dry Dock (T shed) where we discharged a full cargo of Steel slabs and coils repaired the ships side and shaft tunnel and rebuilt several double bottoms before re-loading the cargo ad heading off to Detroit. She was sold by Idwal Williams the following year. After all the problems of that trip I guess they were not unhappy to see her go. The Americans made a great deal of fuss when we finally got there holding a court of inquiry on board before we left their jurisdiction."
