
The SILVRETTA, a Mark V Bulk Carrier of the Panamax Class, was launched on October 14th 1994 in Copenhagen at the Burmeister & Wain shipyard, and handed over to her owners, Oceana Shipping A.G. of Chur, on January 10th 1995. The naming ceremony took place in Copenhagen on September 19th 1994 at the same time as that of her sister ship the M/V ROMANDIE. The SILVRETTA put to sea on her maiden voyage to New Orleans on January 10th 1995, reaching port on January 29th 1995 under the command of Captain Martin Horner. Management of the ship is in the hands of Suisse-Atlantique, Société de Navigation Maritime S.A., Lausanne.
