This multi-purpose freighter with hull No. SF100111 (IMO No.: 9614696) was ordered in 2011 by an investor group around the Swiss shipping company SCL Reederei AG, Bern, Switzerland with the ship builders Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering Co. Ltd., Taizhou, province Jiangsu, P.R. of China, together with a sister vessel (hull No. SF100112).

On 26.03.2012 the keel was laid and on 15.10.2012 the ship was launched with ist originally intended name SCL HELVETIA. During sea trials the new building bore the Chinese name SAN FU 18001.

This modern, multi-purpose cargo vessel has three cargo holds, of which No. 2 has a total length of 51,75 m and a width of 20,40 m. The hatch covers have the same dimensions as the hold, therefore heavy and bulky collies can be shipped. The three cranes, made by McGregor have each a lifting capacity of 80 mt. Two cranes can work in tandem and lift a cargo of 146 mt, by using the large, 14 mt spreader.

The freighter was committed before delivery to Clipper Projects A/S of the Danish Clipper Group, Copenhagen. For this reason the ship could not be registered under its first intended name SCL HELVTIA, but the charter name CLIPPER HELVETIA had to be used. On 02.05.2013 she was registered in the Swiss shipping registry with home port Basel. (official No.: 199, call sign: HBEO, registered owner: SCL Helvetia AG, Unterägeri, Switzerland). The technical and commercial management is provided by Enzian Ship Management AG, Zürich, Switzerland.

The captain and the senior officers are from eastern Europe, the junior officers and the ratings are from Sri Lanka. The crew has a total of 18 persons.

The freighter operates in the Green Fleet Pool of Clipper. In this pool no fixed charter rates are paid, but the owners participate in the profits of the pool or in possible losses. The pool also determines the trade of the vessel, she can be subleted, run on time charter or on the spot market. The maiden voyage was with a project cargo for wind power turbines from China via Phu My in Vietnam to Glasgow, in Scotland.

SwissShips-HPS, MB, May 2013

Renamed HELVETIA at Saigon on August 30, 2016.

On July 4th, 2017 at 12:00 (local time), M/V HELVETIA has been officially handed over from Enzian Shipping AG to ABC Maritime under the command of Master Capt. Yaroslav Selyuk. Her first voyage under the new management will consist of loading windmill poles in Taicang (China) to discharge in Newcastle (Australia).

On April 27, 2020, HELVETIA in Eemshaven in the Netherlands was deleted from the Swiss shipping register. The new name is BBC RHEIDERLAND. Registered for Norderaue Briese Schiffahrts (Management: Briese Heavylift GmbH & Co KG , Hafenstrasse 12, 26789 Leer, Germany) under the flag of Antigua & Barbuda in St. John's. New call sign: V2HI6.
