The LAUSANNE and her sister ship ST-CERGUE were ordered 01.03.2015 by Suisse-Atlantique SA Renens, Switzerland from the Japanese concern JMU, Japan Marine United Corporation, Tokyo and constructed in their shipyard in Kure (near Hiroshima). The LAUSANNE is the second ship and was delivered and registered under Swiss flag on 10.02.2017 (official no.: 221, call sign: HBLR, registered owner: Oceana Shipping AG, Chur, Switzerland).
The LAUSANNE is a bulk carrier with five cargo holds and especially designed to carry grain cargoes, however not suitable to load logs. In order to discharge grain and other bulk materials in smaller, poorly equipped ports, she is fitted with four wireless remote controlled grabs.
The LAUSANNE has a complement of 21 persons, all citizens of the Ukraine.
The first voyage went from the builder's yard to Prince Rupert on the Western Coast of Canada, then to Chittagong in Bangladesh.
