Die MSC GERMANY gehört zu einer Serie von 12 Schiffen mit LNG (Liquefied natural gas / Flüssigerdgas) - Antrieb, die die MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA, Genf am 31. August 2021 bei der chinesischen Werft Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. geordert hat. Das 1. Schiff dieses Typs ist die die am 21. Oktober 2024 abgelieferte MSC SIENA. Die MSC GERMANY, die ursprünglich als "MSC Rosella" in Auftrag gegeben wurde, ist das fünfte Schiff dieser Klasse. Die Kiellegung des Schiffes erfolgte am 22. August 2024. Am 27. Dezember 2024 schwamm das Schiff im Bau Dock auf. Abgeliefert am 7. April 2025 an die Eigner Gesellschaft Mi-Das Line SA, Panama und registriert in Monrovia, Liberia. Die Offizielle Nummer lautet 24883 und das Rufzeichen ist 5LUT4. Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) ist 636024883.

Das Kommerzielle, Technische und das ISM*) Management wird durch die italienische Tochterfirma Mediterranean Shipping Company S.r.l. in Piano di Sorrento ausgeführt.

In Hamburg am 14. Juni 2025 wurde die MSC GERMANY im Rahmen des MSC Yellow Festvials gegen 20:00 Uhr vor den Landungsbrücken durch die Hamburger Wirtschaftssenatorin Melanie Leonhard (SPD) getauft.

The first ship of this type is the MSC SIENA, which was delivered on 21 October 2024. The MSC GERMANY, originally commissioned as the ‘MSC Rosella’, is the fifth ship in this class.
