
This product tanker is a vessel of a series of standard tankers, type "Broz Tito", built in shipyards in Split, Rijeka and Uljanik, Yugoslavia for the Soviet merchant navy and delivered to various shipping companies in the Black Sea and in the Far East (Nakhodka), all about 24 units.
This vessel was built under the name "KAPITAN A. KACHARAVA" by Brodogradiliste "Split", Split under the hull No. 326 for the Georgian Shipping Company of Batumi, Soviet Republic of Georgia. The keel was laid on 01.07.1983, the launching was on 24.12.1983 and the delivery to her owners was on 15.11.1984 (IMO / Lloyd's Register No: 8207018, official No: M-41579. call sign: URTX).
Its main dimensions were 151,3 m length overall, a beam of 22,4 m and a depth of 12,15 m. The carrying capacity was 16’354 metric tons DWT on a summer draught of 9,02 m. The hull had a double bottom over its entire length and was divided into 16 cargo tanks with a total capacity of 20’034 m3 (98 %), plus 2 slop tanks. Each tank had its own deep well cargo pump, made by Thune-Eureka and with a capacity of 250 m3/hr.
The main propulsion consisted of one 6-cylinder, slow speed diesel engine, MAN, built by TDM, type: K6SZ52/105CL, giving a total output of 7200 BHP at 165 RPM, directly coupled to one CP-propeller. Electrical power was supplied by one shaft alternator of 720 kW, 2 diesel generators of 560 kW each and one emergency diesel generator of 80 kW. A bow thruster was also installed.
In 1994/95 this vessel and her sister vessels "KAPITAN MAKATSARIJA", "DAVID BAKRADZE" and "NATO VACHNADZE" were transferred to Anglo Georgian Shipping Company in London and flagged out to the Maltese registry. The technical management was allocated to ABC Maritime AG in Nyon.
The "KAPITAN A. KACHARAVA" was taken over on 06.12.1994 and was renamed "KACHARAVA". She was registered in Valletta (owners: Kacharava Shipping Company Ltd., Valletta, 0fficial No: 4269, call sign: 9HMO4).
On 01.01.1997 the technical management was transferred to Norbulk Shipping UK Ltd., Glasgow and later in 1999 it was again transferred to Columbia Shipmanagement Ltd., Limassol, Cyprus.
On 26.05.1998 the "KACHRAVA" suffered a casualty (what happened?) and was back in service on 21.06.1998.
In August 2000 the vessel was sold to Queen T. Shipping Co. Ltd., Majuro, Marshall Islands and renamed "QUEEN T." (official No: 1477, call sign: V7CK5). The management was given to Columbia Shipmanagement (Netherlands) B.V., Spijkenisse, Netherlands.
In October 2000 the management changed back to Columbia Shipmanagement Ltd., Limassol.
06.2006: Registered under Liberia flag. Official No: 12968. Call sign: A8JO5.
02.2009: Transferred to the ownercompany Adriatic Wind2 LLC (Same Management). Name and flag unchanged.
06.2009: Purchased by Karina Shipping Ltd., Kingstown, Saint Vincent & The Grenadines. Name and flag unchanged.
Arrived on 05.09.2009 at Chittagong, Bangladesh and sold for about $ 288.- per LDT (6,071 LDT) $ 1,748,448.- total, to unknown shipbreakers and broken up.
